Kibble Education and Care Centre Limited
Kibble Education and Care Centre Limited is one of Scotland's most well known and established charities and social enterprises. It provides a range of services to young people with social, emotional, educational and behavioural difficulties.
The facilities on the campus in Paisley have continually evolved since it was established back in 1841 and are today made up of a number of 1960s style units that are no longer fit for purpose. The Scottish Investment Fund (SIF) has invested £1m as part of an overall £2.1m funding package to enable Kibble to replace old buildings and create new facilities as part of their evolving campus redevelopment. This redevelopment represents a transformational change in the way in which Kibble delivers their valuable services to ensure that they remain effective in the 21st century.
The £1m investment comprises a mix of loan and grant.
Kibble has a proven and demonstrable track record in providing positive outcomes for young people as a result of its interventions in their lives. The SIF investment will ensure that the existing levels of education and care provision will remain at satisfactory levels and that the fostering centre achieves the capacity increases that it plans.
"we are delighted with the Scottish Investment Fund’s generous contribution to Kibble’s 'Innovation in Action' programme to develop specialist educational, therapeutic expressive arts and intensive fostering services. This investment package of strategic grant and loan facility, augmented by other philanthropic donations and Kibble’s contribution, will support the construction of two new education suites, a new expressive arts centre and the refurbishment of our fostering day centre on our campus in Paisley. In our 150th year, this redevelopment is testimony to the importance of ongoing investment and innovation and will further enhance and consolidate Kibble’s position as Scotland's Specialist Centre for Young People at Risk. We are particularly pleased to be working with SIF on these new approaches to strategic investments for social enterprises and look forward to further collaboration as new models are developed.” Graham Bell, Chief Executive.
