The Wise Group
The Wise Group are one of Scotland's largest and most successful social enterprises. Formed in 1983 the group has evolved over the past 25 years into a leading social business delivering employability, regeneration and sustainability services on behalf of the public sector across Scotland and the North of England. The group's 5 year plan offers an exciting expansion plan as it positions itself as a key partner in the delivery of sustainable economic growth by government and its agencies.
SIF has invested £900,000 to help make a transformational step change in the organisational capacity of the group. This investment comprises a mix of loan and grant.
A pre-dictive SROI measurement indicates a return of £9.78 for every £ invested. The key factors underpinning this relatively high figure includes12,105 additional employment outcomes over the next 5 years, reduced welfare benefit spend, increased tax income, increased personal/disposable income and the trickle down effect of increased personal spend in local areas.

“The SIF award - subject to our Board's approval - will enable the Wise Group to transform our ability to deliver on our overall capabilities and performance, deliver significant social returns, and support the Scottish Government in achieving its National Outcome targets. It will also allow us to harness our strong ability to support sustainable economic growth, build on our economic recovery programme and help Scotland emerge faster and stronger from the current downturn.” Laurie Russell, Chief Executive of the Wise Group
