This section of the model consists of a series of questions that involve Yes/No answers dealing with the basic eligibility requirements of SIF.   It should take no more than a few seconds to complete and the questions have been constructed in such a way that any 'No' answer will prompt a message that the organisation does not meet the SIF eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

1. Are you an established third sector organisation located and trading in Scotland with social aims that include those related to equality and diversity?

2. Does your organisation re-invest any surpluses earned, for a social purpose? Permitted distributions made by Community Interest Companies, or distributions to members made by community-controlled or worker co-operatives may be ignored for the purposes of this question.

3. Is your organisation willing to consider loan finance or other forms of repayable funding, which will be an integral part of any SIF investment? If your constitution does not include borrowing powers, are you willing to change it?

4. Can you demonstrate the social impact made as a direct result of your organisation's activities?

5. Have you been trading successfully, generating income other than grants, for at least three years? In the case of joint venture or consortium arrangements, at least one of the members must have been trading successfully for at least three years.

As a general rule we normally look for at least 3 years trading but we will in exceptional cases invest in organisations with less than 3 years trading
